Campus Interpreters

The Oklahoma School for the Deaf employs three (3) full-time certified interpreters for the deaf. There are also three (3) other staff members, that are certified interpreters, and assist in interpreting situations as needed. Interpreters are trained professionals and follow a code of ethics when performing their duties. Interpreters should not divulge any information regarding an interpreting assignment. Interpreters perform assignments on campus such as IEP meetings, staff meetings, counseling sessions, teacher meetings, extracurricular activities, tours, classes, workshops, etc.

The Oklahoma School for the Deaf accesses interpreters in the community if needed. We provide a list of those interpreters to consumers, parents, students, and the community upon request. That information can be found on the DRS website. Click here

The Oklahoma School for the Deaf also has on staff a Spanish interpreter who is available upon request. She also translates documents, letters to parents, makes phone calls, assists during tours assists during enrollment, interprets for IEP meetings, etc.
